70 percent of small firms that experience a major data loss go out of business within a year.
This statement was the result of research done in 2004 by Strategic Research Corp and DTI/Price Waterhouse Coopers. Seven years later in 2011, one could easily argue that the risks associated with a major data loss have grown even higher. Every business, in any line of work, has become increasingly dependent on electronic data to operate and thrive. A significant data loss would be devastating to most.
And yet despite this threat, very few businesses have an effective data protection strategy in place. A 2009 survey of small businesses by Insight UK found that nearly 37 percent of the survey’s respondents admitted to backing up less than once per month. Almost 10 percent admitted that they never do a backup.
When was the last time you verified that a full data backup was done for your office?
At Infinity, we recommend a strategy that includes layers of redundancy for our clients – a combination of onsite, off-site, & online data protection. A key component of this strategy is having a Managed Backup Service that provides for consistent monitoring of the backups and responsiveness to any failures.
